The track is a moment of reinvention and rejuvenation for the Auckland-based artist and emcee, who has been consistently proving herself as one of the best to do it in recent years. With ‘Day Dreaming’, Rubi Du steps further into a spotlight ready to be claimed, weaving a natural knack for honest storytelling with a firm musical vision that has been captivating audiences throughout Aotearoa.

Produced by Riddim Cartel and recorded in Wellington, ‘Day Dreaming’ sees Rubi Du follow themes of new possibilities and exploring the unknown.

‘Day Dreaming’ is the first release from Rubi Du for 2024, having enjoyed a string of popular releases since her debut in 2020. Already known to audiences in Aotearoa through her former project, SilvaMC, Rubi Du re-emerged to solidify her place as the Queen of Aotearoa’s roots and dancehall scene, capping off these wonderful releases with an undeniably addictive live performance attitude – most recently seen on tour with Aotearoa’s kings of dub themselves, Fat Freddy’s Drop. Making waves in Aotearoa and beyond, Rubi Du’s sphere of influence has stretched around the world.

Her versatility as an artist exemplified on heater tracks including ‘BROWN SKIN’ and ‘BACK UP’ in 2022, Rubi Du is continuing to expand her sonic palette and board of inspirations as she heads further into new territory on her upcoming slate of projects for this year.
